Aging Parents : One Person's Story with Sanne Kure-Jensen

Sanne Kure-Jensen is the featured guest speaker and will disuss ways to help parents as they age and become more dependent upon others for help.  Ms. Kure-Jensen is a garden consultant as well as an agricultural and horticultural writer.  She gave educational workshops at conferences, garden centers and libraries across southern New England on Composting, Beekeeping, Pollinators and Ecological Landscape Design, and Eating Organically.  In her current role of the daughter of elderly parents, she will discuss ways to:

-       Help needed - select in-home aide, driver, home delivery vs. moving,

-       Take over financials -bills, insurance, taxes, junk mail, fake charity requests, etc.

-       Property management - adapt for safer access or purge and rent/sell

-       Facility selection – choose for current and potential future needs

-       Smooth transitions – loss of independence and privacy vs. new, activities, friends

-       Tools and resources – what worked and challenges to minimize

-       Make our own plans – easier on children

Ms. Kure-Jensen is not a legal, financial or insurance professional and will NOT make any specific financial, tax or long term care policy recommendations.  She will describe her situation and will suggest local and regional resources and support.
