Head of Reference: Permanent Full-time (37.5 hours/wk)
Derry Public Library seeks an energetic, outgoing new member to lead the Reference team. Yes! We still have reference librarians here, who want to help people find answers to life’s burning questions and who believe the public library is an essential community asset. Successful candidates will have a positive attitude, lots of initiative, and enthusiasm to work collaboratively. Derry Public Library has a culture of supporting hard work, professional development and intellectual inquiry.
Duties: The Head of Reference oversees all work of the reference staff, including, first and foremost, friendly customer service, plus programming, collection development, and technology support for staff and patrons. They are also a member of the Library’s Management Team, sharing responsibility for staff and public safety, as well as the building.
Qualifications: Successful candidate must be willing to work with people of all ages and levels of knowledge, and have confidence using technology in multiple applications. MLIS from an ALA accredited program, with relevant work experience, is required; candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Job includes one evening weekly and alternating Saturdays.
Salary range offered is $27.96-29.66/hr. Benefits include comprehensive health and dental insurance, as well as paid holiday, vacation, sick and personal time off.

Part-Time Library Assistant
Library Assistant, Circulation Department
Hours: 20 hrs/week, plus one Saturday (9-5) every 4th week (27.5 hrs that week); also one evening (3-8 pm) each week.
Derry Public Library is looking for an energetic, friendly and unflappable team member. We are looking for someone who will contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment. Join us and we can promise there will be no dull moments!
Duties include direct interaction with patrons, greeting them as they enter the library, checking in/out library materials, accepting payments, shelving and retrieving materials, answering phones, issuing library cards and a myriad of other tasks.
Qualifications: Candidates must have excellent customer service skills and facility with computers. Having a sense of humor is a plus. Previous library experience is preferred. Candidates must also be detail oriented, have skill in alphabetizing and putting materials in correct Dewey Decimal order, be in good physical condition and able to push heavy carts, reach upper and lower shelves, bend, stoop, lift, and stand for long periods of time.
Starting wage: $16.41/hr. Part-time benefits include paid holiday, vacation, sick and personal time off.

Hours: Two weekday evenings (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) and every Saturday.
Derry Public Library is searching for a motivated, self-directed individual with strong organizational skills, who can alphabetize with ease and is familiar with the Dewey Decimal System.
Duties include sorting, shelving, and retrieving books and other library materials; shelf reading (i.e. making sure the shelves are in order); plus other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Candidates must be at least 15 and a half years old, be able to follow written and oral instructions, and be detail oriented. The ideal applicant will also have skill in alphabetizing and putting materials in correct Dewey Decimal classification order, be in good physical condition and able to push heavy carts, reach upper and lower shelves, bend, stoop, lift, and stand for long periods of time. The ability to work independently and maintain a friendly and courteous manner are essential.
Salary: $10.50/hr
