Local historian TJ Cullinane talks about puppeteer and Derry resident Nikki Tilroe.
Nikki Tilroe (1941 - 2005) was an Emmy Award winning puppeteer who also performed as a dancer, mime and actor. During her professional career, she worked with all the puppeteering greats, from Jim Henson to Shari Lewis. Her puppeteering also saw her perform everywhere from the White House lawn to national television programs both in the U.S. and in Canada. As a mime she appeared with Marcel Marceau on Red Skelton’s Funny Face series filmed for HBO. This presentation from local historian T.J. Cullinane is drawn from Nikki’s personal archives in the Derry Museum of History and will feature many photos and artifacts never before seen in public.
